American Idol’s Jessica Sanchez should thank her lucky stars that the show’s judges liked her enough to use their one and only ‘save’ for the season to get her off the chopping block.
So, despite getting the lowest number of votes, Jessica Sanchez “ain’t going home.”
Jessica, a 16-year-old high school student from San Diego powered through the Jazmine Sullivan ballad “Stuttering” on Wednesday’s show but was revealed to have received the fewest viewer votes on Thursday. Fortunately, the “Idol” judges unanimously decided to save Sanchez before she could even finish her last-chance performance of Deborah Cox’s “Nobody’s Supposed to Be Here.”
“Give me that mic,” Jennifer Lopez interrupted Sanchez. “This is crazy! Yes, we’re using the save. You ain’t going home.”
It was Sanchez’s first time on the bottom three, together two other front-runners Elise Testone and Joshua Ledet, who even got a standing ovation from the panel for his rendition of Bruno Mars’ “Runaway Baby.”
“This is a ridiculous bottom three, America,” Randy Jackson even said.
However, rescuing Sanchez this week means two contestants will be booted out next week.
