The latest results show of American Idol 2012 sent fan fave Colton Dixon home. But not before they could pay tribute to a music industry legend, Dick Clark.
Host Ryan Seacrest told America that Dick Clark was one of his biggest influences and even called him his mentor. Thursday night saw video clips from the American Bandstand which reminded everyone how much Clark contributed to the growth of the music industry.

“Everybody needs a mentor and mine, without doubt, was Dick Clark,” said host Ryan Seacrest over footage from Clark’s groundbreaking TV show American Bandstand.
The episode aired only hours after news of the passing of Clark, and at the beginning of the show, Ryan said, “We can’t begin tonight’s show without acknowledging the passing of a television pioneer and my dear friend, Dick Clark. Without Dick, a show like this would not exist. He will be missed greatly. Our thoughts and our prayers go out to his family.”
