After more than a hundred thousand who attended the auditions, only one stood out at the end of the American Idol Season 11.
Phillip Phillips won during the American Idol 2012 Finale night on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, and was declared the American Idol Season 11 winner, and Jessica Sanchez was the first runner-up.
As featured at Fox on Wednesday night, Phillip Phillips won the American Idol Season 11 title in the star-studded show, with host Ryan Seacrest revealing that there were 132 million votes cast for Phillips and Jessica.
On Tuesday night, Phillip and Jessica sang three songs each, with the three judges giving Phillip a standing ovation in Round 3 after he sang “Home”, with the song that round was dubbed as the ‘American Idol Season 11 winner’ song, or they will be recording if they win.
On the other hand, Jessica received mixed reactions from her first two performances but the third one did not seem to please the judges, with Steven Tyler noting that he knows how good she can sing but stressed out that it was not the proper song for her.
Apparently, the American Idol 2012 Finale show opened with Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez being called by Seacrest, and later Phillip singing with CCR‘s John Fogerty and they performed “Have you ever seen the rain?” and “Bad Moon Rising”.
Meanwhile, Jessica Sanchez sang Whitney Houston‘s “I will Always Love You” with the song she performed during the Top 13 performance night, and later had a duet with Jennifer Holiday singing “And I’am Telling You (I’m Not Going)” from “Dreamgirls,” the movie that won “American Idol” alum Jennifer Hudson an Oscar.

Later, the American Idol 2012 Top 12 guys sang some of the Bee Gees hit songs as Seacrest paid tribute to Robin Gibb, who passed away last Sunday at the age of 62 after a long battle with cancer.
Among the previously eliminated American Idol 2012 finalists who performed that night are Joshua Ledet, Elise Testone, Erika Van Pelt, Heejun Han, Shannon Magrane, Hollie Cavanagh, and Skylar Laine, as their American Idol 2012 Live Concert 45-date tour to start this coming July 6 with tickets now available.
