American Idol 2012 Top 2 finalist Jessica Sanchez sang three songs on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, including “I Have Nothing” and “The Prayer”, as shown in the video below, as he competed with Phillip Phillips on their Grand Finale performance night.
As featured at Fox on Tuesday night, Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips sang three songs each, with the first song being chosen by American Idol Executive Producer Simon Fuller, the second one was as their favorite song, and the third one considered as the ‘winner’s song’.
Sanchez, 16, who was saved by the three judges last month during the Top 7 elimination night and will be the youngest American Idol winner if she wins, was the first one to perform and sang “I Have Nothing” by the late Whitney Houston.

After Phillip sang “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King, judge Randy Jackson said he thinks the first round went to Jessica Sanchez, while Steven Tyler did not have time to say anything. Jennifer Lopez noted that America will have a tough job and that she really cannot compare the two performances.

For her second song, Jessica Sanchez sang the song “The Prayer”, which was popularized by the duet of Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli. Sanchez also sang this during the Final Judgment round before she got in the Top 25.
Steven said that he believes Jessica won this round while Jennifer said he thinks she goes for Phillip this time and that he was better. Randy said he thought it was a tie. Many people thought this was a “wow” moment for Sanchez. In fact, the song was a top Twitter trend worldwide shortly after her performance.
For the third and final round, Jessica sang “Change Nothing”, a song that she will release if she wins the American Idol Season 11 title, with Randy saying that he did not love the song, but she made something more out of the song and brought the song to life.
On the other hand, Jennifer said that she did not love the song, but noting that Jessica made something more out of it and she brought life to the song, while Steven noted that he knows how good she can sing but stressed out that it was not the proper song for her.
